In the glistening wake of installation soundtrack ‘Grey Interiors’ for Smalltown Supersound, Actress is not one to be second guessed as he stretches out lines of extended melodic thought in a signature style of ribboning keys and sequencer chicanery, variously touching on sweetspots of reflective neo-classical ambient with frissons of generative vox, thru a gorgeous bit of BoC worship, and daydreamy beatdown.

‘Tranzkript 1’ lands in what is arguably Actress’ imperial phase of the 2020s, after already helping to define the sound of modern electronic music back in the late ‘00s. The reference points of classic ‘90s electronic music - from Detroit house and techno to its offshoot in the UK’s AI movement - to chamber classical and computer game scores are still in the air but, as with everything from ‘Hazyville’ (2008) onward, those forms are deliciously smudged and kerned to more oneiric, impressionistic ideals to seduce the imagination in unique ways.
